MIT’s Futuristic New Entrance Canopy!

How do you create a new entrance for the world-famous MIT? I did the structural design of this stunning project and, in this video, I’ll go through the concept design, how it was built with carbon and glass fiber, optimized with AI/machine learning, and fabricated by boat builders!

Hi, I'm Paul Kassabian. I'm a structural engineer and a Principal at SGH in Boston, MA. Being a structural engineer is my fulltime job and I’ve also I taught full courses to graduate students at MIT for nine years, Harvard's Graduate School of Design (GSD) for five years and at RISD (Fall 2023).
