A couple of images in my local park with two 250mm lenses and a 135mm lens on the Rittreck View 5x7 and Shanghai GP3 100 film.

The two 250mm lenses are both a bit unusual: one is an old fast tessar, the other a soft focus lens. I wanted to compare the two lenses which on 5x7 have a FFE of about 50mm.

The Fujinar 25cm f4.5 lens (the focal length is marked as 250mm on later versions) is about the same age as the camera and reportedly the two were used together in Japan for street portraits by commercial photographers. It's a fast tessar design with excellent sharpness and good coverage. When well stopped down it covers 8x10 with just a little softness in the extreme corners. The Shanel shutter is big and heavy and it has a very odd range of shutter speeds.

The Fujinion SF 250mm f5.6 is a soft focus lens that is normally used wide open with one of two "strainer" disks (yellow dot or red dot) that selectively block light from the outside of the aperture (which is where the the de-focused image is made) to control the amount of soft focus effect. When used stopped down past f11 to f22 or more there is little or no soft focus effect and the images are "normal". This lens will also cover 8x10 when well stopped down.

The Fujinon W 135mm f5.6 lens is a lovely little plasmat lens that on 5x7 has a FFE of about 28mm making it a nice wide angle. It's small and light and sharp, very easy to work with. It's will fit into many field cameras when folded – Wista 45, Linhof Technika, but not the Rittreck.
