Restoring a damaged and dirty Wii Controller (Wiimote) - Gaming Repair

I recently picked up an old Wii bundle from FB marketplace, and one of the controllers (Wiimotes) needed some work. It was dirty, buttons were sticky and didn't depress and respond correctly, and (according to the seller) had trouble maintaining a connection. Today, I do a full refresh: teardown, scrubbing the shell & buttons, cleaning the circuit board (PCB) and reassembly!
