Hi I'm Dr. Joe DeMarco, chiropractor and owner of Ocramed Health, and on this FREE Stretching Exercises Youtube Video, teaching you my number one quad stretch for tight or injured quadriceps.

The quadriceps consist of four muscles inside the anterior aspect of the thigh.
The vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, vastus intermedius, and the rectus femoris.
All four muscles cross the knee joint and help you perform knee extensions.
Only one of these muscles, the rectus femoris, crosses the hip joint (and therefore aids in hip flexion).

Suffering from tight quadriceps is very common and completely treatable.
In my 31 years of practice, many patients come to me with extremely tight quadriceps muscles.

Personally, I believe this muscle group is often forgotten when performing stretching exercises. Sometimes, when people imagine stretching, they're picturing someone seated, folding over their hips, and touching their toes. With this particular stretching exercise you're mainly stretching your hamstrings.
Stretching your quadriceps requires you to lean back rather than lean forward like the previous example.

This has been number one quadriceps stretch for years. Perform 3-5 sets each day.
