SYNOPSIS:
Set in the Arizona Territory in 1879, Apache Rifles follows Captain Jeff Stanton, a seasoned cavalry officer known for his fierce tactics against Native Americans. Stanton is ordered to relieve a struggling unit and bring back an Apache band that has abandoned their reservation and alarmed settlers.
Using unconventional methods, Stanton quickly gains the upper hand and captures Red Hawk, the son of Apache chief Victorio. Seeking to prevent more bloodshed, Stanton negotiates a truce: the Apaches agree to return to their land if white miners stay off their territory. However, tensions simmer as settlers and greedy miners continue trespassing, threatening the fragile peace.
When corrupt elements murder the Indian agent and blame the tribe, the fragile accord collapses. Stanton — now caught between his duty, justice, and his evolving respect for Apache culture — must confront both his own prejudices and the escalating violence. With betrayal, deceit, and escalating conflict surrounding him, he fights for a resolution that might finally bring lasting peace.
