Solo Backpacking - Climbing to the White Domes in the Canaan Mountain Wilderness

Описание к видео Solo Backpacking - Climbing to the White Domes in the Canaan Mountain Wilderness

Starting from the Water Canyon trailhead in Hildale Utah, I made my way up and above Water Canyon to reach Top Rock. Even with GPS, I found myself off trail and cliff'd out a couple times. This trail requires scrambling, bush whacking, and ledge climbing. It is not for those with a fear of heights as I found myself on sheer drop-offs many times. From Top Rock, there really is no real trail to White Domes. Here, you have to rely on GPS and/or compass and map. Perhaps the biggest challenge was that I could not find water above Water Canyon. So, I carried in all the water I could, about six liters. I would have loved to spend more time on top of Canaan Mountain. There is so much more to see up there! But with no water, I couldn't stay for a second night. If you attempt this fantastic hike you MUST be confident in your route finding skills and be prepared to carry your own water. I cannot stress this last point enough as it is very easy to get lost!
