I wish I knew what was going on here 200 years ago

This one area way out in the NH woods is different and you can tell as soon as you walk up into it. Miles of terrible land all around expect this one section which you can clearly see was cleared by settlers centuries ago. I was out metal detecting and exploring and following the old rock walls looking for cellar holes. I found a coupe cart paths wagon trails that lead me to now overgrown farm fileds and dug up some old stuff. Its all about reading the landscape history out here if you want to find old paces to metal detect. But more than that it is extremely fascinating to see lands once wide open farms now buried in the overgrown forest. People were working and loving out here hundreds of years ago and they left footprints behind. Abandoned. deserted and so stimulating for the mind to wonder what it was once like.
