The state government has renamed the KALIA scheme to 'CM-KISAN' to align with the Centre's PM-KISAN scheme. Through these schemes, nearly 1 crore farmers in Odisha will receive financial assistance.
The BJP government in Odisha unveiled its inaugural budget on Thursday, with a total estimate of ₹2.65 lakh crore for the 2024-25 fiscal year, focusing on agriculture and women's empowerment.
The budget size for the current fiscal year is approximately 15% higher than the ₹2.30 lakh crore estimate for the 2023-24 fiscal year, as stated by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in the assembly.
Majhi, who also serves as the finance minister, revised and renamed several popular schemes, including KALIA, 'Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana' (BSKY), and 'Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana' (BPGY). He proposed an allocation of ₹33,919 crore for agriculture, which is roughly 36% more than the previous year's allocation.
