Enduring Activity: Updates in Pediatrics: Pediatric Thyroid Disorders

Target Audience
This activity is relevant for all specialties and is targeted toward all general pediatric physicians and pediatric subspecialists in the community.
Statement of Need
Our learners need the knowledge and strategies to assist in recognizing, evaluating and treating common and not so common problems presenting in a primary care setting, including when it is appropriate to refer.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to:
1. Review normal thyroid gland physiology and function.
2. Identify common pediatric thyroid disorders.
3. Explore the relationship between thyroid function and body weight.
4. Identify situations in which patients may benefit from evaluation of thyroid function.
5. Develop strategies for next steps after identifying pediatric thyroid dysfunction.
