4-7-2024 L&C #3 - Prospect Park - Men's Cat 5 FULL RACE

This was my first time racing in Prospect Park this season. This was also my first time doing back to back races (I raced Central Park yesterday). This race started off fast! There were several attacks throughout and there was solid teamwork in the field from Pedal Power & L&D to support the breakaway attempts. With all that said - I WAS ABLE TO HOLD ON!!! 😁

14:00 - I almost get taken out 😂
28:50 - I attempted to bridge to the breakaway on lap 4 of 5...by myself 🙄. I got 80% of the way there before I ran out of gas.
31:15 - The main pack catches me and I get dropped on the hill (really poor timing on the bridge attempt...especially since I couldn't stick it).
32:50 - The moto marks me as dropped
33:19 - I grab a friendly wheel to try to get back to the pack
33:48 - I take a pull
34:14 - Trying to get another racer to hop on the train back to the main pack. In my mind i yelled "COME ON MAN!" In reality, I was a lot more pleasant 😁
36:06 - I catch the main pack on the downhill on lap of the final lap
36:51 - sketchy riding in the peloton. It felt like a crash was imminent
41:02 - 5th wheel on the final bend - starting to realize that i don't have another big effort in my legs. I really did a poor job conserving energy in the draft down the stretch.


I don't know where I placed in the field because my number was flapping in the wind and the USAC guy did not know who I was. If I had to guess, it was something between 20 and 25 out of 37. A big pack of about 25 guys finished together.
