This is a data visualisation showing the All-Time Top 10 Formula 1 Drivers between 1950 and 2020 based on total number of points accumulated by each driver during that period. Who sits at the top of the ultimate leaderboard after more than 70 years of F1?

Points for each driver were recorded starting from the inaugural season of F1 in 1950 up to and including the 2020 season.

As the points system used by F1 has changed over the years we applied the 2019/20 points system (25 points for 1st place, etc. + fastest lap) to all results going back to 1950.

Also, as the number of races staged every year since 1950 has changed we multiplied each driver's yearly total by a coefficient to simulate the exact same number of races being staged each year.

With these variations accounted for we believe this is one of the most accurate comparisons of F1 driver performance out there!

At the end of the video we've also included the total number of World Drivers' Championships won by each driver.
