On this weeks show I sit down with Olympic Beach Volleyball player Melissa Humana Peredes.
The 31 yr old was born and bred in Toronto, she is the younger daughter of Chilean parents. ballet dancer Myriam Paredes and volleyball player Hernán Humaña, who was part of the national team and later coached Canadians John Child and Mark Heese to the bronze medal at the 1996 Olympics
She's a 2019 World Champion and dual Commonwealth Games gold medallist.
Now Canada’s No. 1 women’s team with Brandie Wilkerson, she is
currently ranked No. 4 in the world and they're aiming for Gold at the Paris Olympic Games.
With numerous accolades including best defender, most improved, best setter and rookie of the year on the FIVB World Tour, Mel stands at 175cm or 5’9” and is an incredible role model for young female athletes.
She’s fast, she’s clever, she’s forever looking for ways to improve with 90 events on the World Tour under her belt, she's won 9 Gold, 8 Silver, 5 Bronze.
But most of all, I would say that Mel is one of the most loved players on the sand. Always positive and ready with a smile to make anyone’s day better. If you haven’t already, give her a follow on Instagram as she authentically shares lots of her day to day life.
