Nick Goldman is a mathematician and genome scientist. He says humans are producing more and more digital information, and the systems we are using to store it are less and less permanent. If we kept building data centres like the ones we have in Sweden and Fort Meade, they'd cover the entire surface of the planet in about a hundred years from now. His DNA data storage discoveries could be the minuscule molecular miracle we need.
