"Shree Rama Jayame Jayam" is a captivating Tamil composition by the renowned Oottukkadu Venkata Kavi (1700-1765), dedicated to the Ramayana. Composed as a Ragamalika in five Ragas—Nattai, Varali, Arabhi, Gowla, and Manirangu—this song eloquently narrates the entire Ramayana in five charanams. Each charanam attributes every incident and miracle to the glorious essence of Rama, creating a beautiful and immersive musical journey through the epic tale.

A graded vocalist of All India Radio, Sowmya Acharya is a disciple of Maestros Sangeet Samrat Chitravina N Ravikiran and Acharya Ratnakara Chitravina N. Narasimhan. She has also learned from Smt Anuradha Sridhar and Shri Chitravina Ganesh in her earlier training. Blessed with a melodious and vibrant voice, Sowmya’s musical training started at the early age of 6 and her musical career was formally launched in 1997 under the guidance of Vidwan Shri C.N Thyagaraju where she performed a critically acclaimed 3.5 hour marathon performance at Singapore with stalwart accompanists.

Sowmya has since performed at several prestigious venues across USA, Singapore and India including the Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival, Singapore Fine Arts, Parthasarathy Swami Sabha Chennai, Chennaiyil Tiruvaiyaru, Brahma Gana Sabha, Chennai Fine Arts and Unnati, Bangalore. She has also released an audio album of Bharatiyar compositions.
