Selfcare and balance managing bipolar disorder & PTSD

Описание к видео Selfcare and balance managing bipolar disorder & PTSD

This video has edited corrections to the autocaptions in English (for my Kiwi accent and difficulties with speaking).

My name is Xanthe Wyse.

I've had multiple psychiatric diagnoses. My primary diagnoses now are bipolar disorder (type 1) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which I still need to manage every day, despite clinical treatment.

I filmed short segments over the course of the day (from around noon to evening). Edited out the most rambling bits.

Wanted to mention some things I see as self-care for me:
medications - for mood, anxiety, sleep
hydration (filtered water)
walks (preferably in nature) to get me out of the house & to stay moderately fit
sleep (aided by medications), otherwise everything derails
low, stress part-time work to get me out of the house (flexible hours as an accommodation)
someone trustworthy and non-judgemental to confide in from time to time
shower or non-scented baby wipes to feel fresher
music of my own choosing - usually with my walks
colour (art, my wildflowers, playing with light etc)
flexible routines such as watering my flowers & having a protein smoothie
eating something half-decent (I usually cook a meal that lasts 2-3 nights)
mostly avoiding social stuff (as low on social energy)

It's always a work in progress to try to keep a balance and what I get done may look very different from day to day and also compared with other people.
