Belur and Halebidu are the ancient temple cities in the state of Karnataka, India. Depicting the rich architectural marvels of the Hoysala empire. Belur is renowned for its Chennakeshava temple, a 12th century Hindu temple, built in 1117 CE on the banks of yegachi river . This was an early Hoysala capital.
Halebidu is another temple town, which has two shiva temples, namely, Hoysaleshwara and kedareshwara temples and jain temples dedicated to lords Parasnath , Adinath and Shantinath (Jain Tirthankaras).
