Hello everyone,
Today I would like to share with you the meanings of 2 English phrases:
1. On the way
2. I am about to.
1) On the way has 3 different meanings:
(a) In the process of coming, going, travelling..
(b) On the route of a journey.
(c) Doing sth, close to sth, completing sth

(a) In the process of coming, going, travelling..
Examples:
A: Where are you now?
B: I am on the way to the party.
I am on the way home.
We are on the way to Siem Reap.
They are on the way to Water Festival in Phnom Penh.

(b) On the route of a journey.
Examples:
I met him on the way to Phnom Penh.
I saw them on the way in Kampong Thom province.
She was crying on the way because she was hungry.

(c) Doing sth, close to sth, completing sth
Examples:
Socheat is on the way to becoming the US president.
Cambodia is on the way to becoming one of the world’s strongest economies.
You are on the way to becoming a doctor.

2) Be about to
Be = is/am/are
(1) - to describe something that we expect to happen very soon.
to refers to the immediate future.
─The bus is about to leave.
─I am about to leave for Barclona for football match.
─The meeting is about to start. Where is everyone?

Sreynoch: Could you help me with the monthly report?
Somnang: I’m about to leave. Can we do this tomorrow?

Customer: What is the price of the laser printer?
Seller: I am about to send you an email with all of our prices.

(2) Was/were about to….
-Something that was going to happen but did not happen.
Examples
I was about to eat when you invited me for a drink.
I was about to jump when I saw the crocodile.

Jane: Hi Sarah!
Sarah: Hi Jane! I was just about to call you.
