Описание к видео 1973 AIR National Programme of Music - M Balamuralikrishna - T Keshavulu - Trichy Sankaran

The restored and remastered audio recording of 1973 All India Radio (AIR) national programme of music is our humble offering to commemorate the 93rd birthday of Dr Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna (BMK).

This concert was held at Madras AIR in front of the invited audience. Here, BMK is accompanied on the violin by Sri. T Keshavulu , and on the mridangam Sri. Trichy Sankaran.

Among the many distinguished merits of his rendition that can be observed here, BMK demonstrates the beauty of the energy & swiftness in his presentation of Ēdāri san̄carinturā (Śrutiran̄jani), with a contrasting aesthetic of serenity & contemplation in his detailed rendition of “Manasu svādhīnamaina” (Śaṅkarābharaṇaṁ).

A trivia, but not trivial: Please observe how BMK glides smoothly in transition from Sadashiva Brahmendra's composition to his own Tillāna in Ahirbhairavi.

We miss Dr. Balamuralikrishna in person today, but not in his music performances such as this one.

Here is a navigation map to the concert.

It is to finally facilitate the process of music for posterity by sharing and listening with the younger generation.
