Hope all our YouTube family is doing well .
We are so Happy and excited to share another video with you all. Please,Join us, as we take this Journey to Africa. We’ll take you along as we travel to Kenya Africa to visit our Daughter and Husband. We are blessed to be able to spend time with them during the birth of their son.
We were so very excited about this whole trip ,and we’re enjoying each and every day ,that we have here with the baby ,and the new mommy and Daddy.
Since baby Taavi Lee came to live with our daughter and husband,we have tremendously enjoyed helping to care for this new grandson,and we’ll try to capture and record the time and activities for you to see .

This Video today is very special to us…we’re making homemade donuts! So you’re welcome to come and experience the whole scenario!!
We are keenly aware that the days are coming to an end here with our beloved and beautiful grandson,Taavi…and of course Sylvia and Koree.
So we had several things we wanted to do, and making donuts was one of them…we wanted to share with the Bichanga in-law family too!
This recipe is almost identical to what we used at home when we’d make donuts ,and I remind you, we didn’t have gas…it was a wood stove or a kerosene oil stove..to be exact! Great memories !
That’s how we gained experience in making these donuts! So here’s my recipe I used if you’d like to make some yourself! Welcome/Enjoy/Be blessed!
Wet ingredients:
3 cups milk
14 tablespoons butter
1 cup sugar
3 teaspoons salt
Mix in a saucepan till butter melts,if it’s to warm, cool it,by setting the pot in the sink with cold water…at lukewarm, mix with
4 beaten eggs
6 tablespoons of Instant yeast, or if it’s dry yeast, first soak in warm water for 10 minutes .( in about 1/2 cup warm water)
12 cups all purpose flour
Now you’ll measure half the flour in a large mixing bowl.Add the lukewarm wet ingredients, eggs, yeast… beat this and stir well,and then add more flour several cups at a time…until you may need to use your hands to finish with a nice soft elastic dough.
Let the dough rest for 15-30 minutes, put the dough onto a floured counter and separate it into 24 pieces, then roll into balls, and wait 15 minutes. Now take the balls and poke your thumb through it and create a donut…flour your sheets or pans and lay the donuts on it.. wait a few minutes..maybe 10-15 minutes till nice and puffy…put paper towels in a tray, to catch the extra oil after frying!
Fill a medium sized pot half full of a good grade peanut oil or vegetable oil…heat until you see it’s browning a small piece of dough…. Go for it , hope it tastes great and awesome!!
Glaze:
4 cups powdered sugar
Start with an 1/8 cup water a good splash of vanilla and mix until it’s smooth. Make it the consistency of pudding with small additional splashes of water until the right consistency is achieved!…or make it a little bit thinner and dip each donut into it to cover all of it… then let it drip for several seconds and lay them on a rack to drip some more; until dry or almost so..Enjoy!
