96 Ford Econoline Van | Surface Rust Frame Restoration Around Fuel Tank | Eastwood Rust Encapsulator

Before I reinstall the Fuel tank on my 1996 Ford E-350 Club Wagon van. I'm going to use this opportunity to restore this section of the frame since the inside is not normally accessible with the fuel tank in the way. To do the job right I removed all the wires, clips, lines, and brackets so the frame could be stripped down to the bare metal. To Coat the metal I used Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator platinum. This paint is highly versatile and incredibly strong. It can be applied directly over cleaned surface rust or bare metal and can hold up to 1,500 hours of salt spray. You can apply it directly over rust but it has to be surface rust and cleaned with at least a wire wheel. It is a moisture-cured paint and I found it takes a little longer than usual to fully cure. However, I do live in a very dry environment. I top-coated the encapsulator with a gloss black and reassembled the parts. To get the best result possible long term you want to focus all your time on the prep work. I hope you found this useful, thanks for watching!
