ALCo DL537 on Freight Duty at Korinthos Station.

Since 2007 Korinthos Old station is out of order due to the new standard gauge line Athens-Kiato. The lack of custody and the old vaggons had permitted to drug users, gypsies and illegal immigrants to tranform the area of the station and the old rolling stock into their haunt or home. All these had been multiplied and had became a major problem for the city untill 2012. The condition around the station was insufferable and as this area was close to the centre of Korinthos, many citizens asked the mayor to take messures. The mayor was reffered to Hellenic Railways Organization (as OSE had the responsibility of the station and rolling stock) in order to ''clean'' the area. In the end OSE decided to tranfer the useful cars to Tripolis whereas the other/useless ones would go for scrap. So after the first excursion in the Peloponnese and for two weeks ALCo A.9101 and A.9105 are working at the station and on special tranfers to Tripolis. The stations was like a dump, full of rubbish and other dangerous for public health items. The stuff that was sent to control the whole procces worked hard and with passion to make the station look like a...station again. Under lots of difficulties and unexpected events the last freight train left Korinthos on September 10, 2012.
