How To Make Sense Of O’Brien’s Active Compression Test…

Take our FREE shoulder return to play course – https://eu1.hubs.ly/H01yP9q0

In this video, England Rugby Union and England Rugby League consultant physiotherapist tells you exactly how to perform the O’Brien’s Active Compression test, how to make sense of the Obrien’s test, useful exercises for treatment of a positive O’Brien’s test, and how to begin bridging the gap between lower and higher-rehab with every complex shoulder pain patient.

The O’Brien’s active compression test is used to test for damage to the glenoid labrum, a labral tear or SLAP lesion when confronted with a shoulder pain case in your physiotherapy clinic. But it isn’t enough to go through the motions. Once your patient presents a positive test you must begin to identify tissues that may not be doing their job.

In the Go-To Physio Mentorship programme we use the 80/20 rule. We spend 20% of our time respecting the shoulder pathology and helping symptoms to settle down and 80% of our time finding and treat the true stressor. You must help every tissue do its job efficiently.

The only way to set your patient and your clinic up for success is to implement a step-by-step system and take every case through a graded exposure rehab programme. Only then can you truly build resilience in your patient, set them up for success in the real world, and secure the growth of your clinic and reputation.
