CLC at UN: We cannot eradicate poverty by eradicating the poor

CLC vice president Matthew Wojciechowski delivered a statement at the UN on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, reminding nations of their duty to safeguard the natural family unit and to protect human life.
He was speaking at a UN Side Event titled “The importance of the Family in the Eradication of Poverty and for Peace and Prosperity.”
Key points:
Western nations, supported by UN agencies, have abandoned their responsibility to protect the natural family.
Instead of protecting the family, promoting motherhood and fatherhood along with the gift of new human life, these nations promote sexual ideologies that redefine marriage, parenthood, procreation, and what it means to be male and female.
They replace education with sexual indoctrination that fractures the parent-child relationship, rejects objective truth and basic human biology, and puts children at risk of harmful, irreversible medical practices.
Some governments turn to sterilization and abortion as a means of population control with the goal of poverty reduction.
-They see human flourishing in large families as a cause of poverty rather than the antidote.
-We must turn to the family as a model for security and prosperity.
“We cannot eradicate poverty by eradicating the poor. That is a fact!”
