HOW TO FIX A SNAPPED TAPE (BETTER VIEW) : CASSETTE REPAIR

Описание к видео HOW TO FIX A SNAPPED TAPE (BETTER VIEW) : CASSETTE REPAIR

A while ago, I posted a video showing how to fix a snapped cassette tape. This video got many views, however, a number of people complained that the angle in the video was not ideal, and some of the cuts I made were unclear due to the camera angle.

So, I have shot another video, making sure that all of the cuts were very clearly recorded. The angle in this video is much better, and it is much easier to follow along and see every single step I take.

Basically, it's not that hard to splice a snapped cassette. However, it does require patience. If you are not a patient person, you may want to consider getting someone else to do it for you.

All you will need are a few simple things: an x-acto knife, a piece of cardboard, scotch tape, two coins and of course, the broken tape. As I mention in the video, it is possible to find adhesive tape that is specifically designed for splicing. But if you cannot access this type of tape, scotch tape will do fine.

Also, as I mention in the video, this is NOT considered a permanent fix. This is mostly intended as a quick band-aid solution. For example, if you just want to get one more pass from the cassette in order to digitize it, this will enable you to do that.

Back in the day, I had an actual cassette tape splicer that I had bought at Radio Shack. This would have been around 1987. I used that thing to fix MANY snapped cassettes. I still have it somewhere. If and when I dig it out, I will do a video about it.

I hope you don't just decide to throw out any old broken cassettes that you may have. As you will see in the video, it's really not that hard to repair them!

Have you ever spliced a broken cassette? Have you ever tried fixing a snapped tape? How did you do it? Do you own an actual splicer? Have you had much luck with fixing snapped tapes? Was there a brand of tape that snapped easily in your opinion? Feel free to leave a comment!
