Bamboo Flute Concerto was originally composed for solo bangdi and symphony orchestra in 1981. Written with the tonal qualities of the bangdi in mind - beautiful, elegant, yet lively and bright, this work comprises 3 movements. The first movement introduces a solemn yet magnificent theme, mirroring the perseverance of the Han people. It then transforms into a lively, brisk second theme in the allegro which is passed between the bangdi and the orchestra to bring about a bustling atmosphere. In the second movement, together with the pensive melodies of the winds and the first theme played by the lower strings, the bangdi evokes the illustrious past and magnanimity of the Han. The music then slowly climaxes to return to the allegro in the final movement where the composer interweaves both themes, concluding the work with the recapitulation of the first theme.

《梆笛协奏曲》是作曲家马水龙1981年的作品,以梆笛为主奏,结合西方管弦乐团编制的协奏曲。作曲家马水龙认为梆笛居有清丽、优雅、细致、活泼而明亮的音质,同时也能展现平原山川辽阔,壮丽的气势。全曲由3个连接演奏的乐章所构成。第一乐章首先由管弦乐团演奏出庄严壮阔的第一主题,有如汉民族的坚毅性格,随后这个主题经过变形,成为活泼轻灵的第二主题,由主奏梆笛吹出,并不断与乐团进行应答,宛若一片熙攘风景,其中梆笛的装饰奏令主奏锋芒尽出,更有可听之处。第二乐章由低音管乐带出若有所思的旋律,在低音弦乐的前乐章第一主题陪衬下,梆笛唱起悠远旋律,令人想起汉民族的悠远历史与宽博气度。随着乐曲渐趋高潮,乐思一转又回到首乐章快板主题,作曲家将第一、第二主题交互发展,最后在锣鼓点的驱策中,重回开头处的壮阔气象,结束全曲。
