On the first day of the new full service to Grand Central, we witness big changes to the diesel operation on the Montauk Branch. We catch numerous first runs of these trains with their new 2 digit train numbers reminiscent of practices on this branch many years ago. On the surface these look like any ordinary diesel train, but behind the scenes it’s a whole new ballgame. There have been many schedule revisions, as well as new and revived trains.
