How to Clean Model Railroad Track in All Scales

Описание к видео How to Clean Model Railroad Track in All Scales

Take a look at the ins and outs of cleaning your model railroad track, with observations about different rail metals and scales. Whether it's better to use an abrasive block or chemical cleaner.

From our observations, the metal used for the rail is a key factor. We have never cleaned the track on our indoor-outdoor railroad, but we are using it as a test site for messing around with Mineral Spirits, "Magic Eraser Sheets" and "No-Ox-ID"

We are avoiding using any "Bright Boy" or similar abrasive block as we have been told it's better not to. But once you use one you will have "micro-abrasions" in your rails that can give places for oily dirt to cling to your rails. Still, coming back with mineral spirits will remove this dirt and leave a micro-coating of conductive material.

We also look at "no-ox-id". A product that prevents metal from oxidizing but leaves a slippery film on the rails.
