Cockatiels and Kai-lan (Gai lan/Chinese Kale) Part 1

Описание к видео Cockatiels and Kai-lan (Gai lan/Chinese Kale) Part 1

The cockatiels were enjoying kai-lan, or gai lan, or some people call it Chinese kale, this is a type of green vegetable, similar to kale (which of course is why it is called Chinese kale) but the leaves are not as curly and stiff as kale.

This vegetable is rarely found in my city. I did not find this vegetable sold in traditional markets, nor at vegetable sellers in villages. It just so happened that at that time one of the shopping places in my city had this vegetable, and I was interested. I bought this because I wanted to eat it, and if only the little parrots would enjoy it too. After I looked at several people's photos and read several articles, and according to several people, gai lan or kai-lan is safe to feed to parrots and small types of parrots such as lovebirds or cockatiels, just like kale or broccoli.

We have fed cockatiels and lovebirds at our place with gai lan leaves. And they eat it, although still not as enthusiastically as when they eat kangkong (water spinach).

This video was recorded in mid-late April 2024, and so far the cockatiels are fine. But it should be noted that the behavior of cockatiels towards gai lan leaves can vary. Before giving these foods in large quantities, it's best to let your cockatiels taste a little first, introduce them slowly, and watch what they do next. If you are not sure, then you can just feed them the vegetables they usually eat.

This video is part one.
