This version of the Ropeman has tiny teeth that grab the rope for a secure immediate grab. The teeth are not sharp and despite their terrifying look they will not shred your rope, or fingers, they will however grab your rope. It is somewhat strange to mount onto the rope the first few times because of the hinged side plates and strong spring but the more I use it the more I like it. It holds well, ascends well and is very small and lightweight. I use it primarily on 11mm rope and despite the manufacturer claiming it will work on 8-13mm rope I think that 13mm might be pushing it.
