BMW Paddle Shifter Mod - Tutorial (E9X Series)

For reasons unknown, the BMW E9X 3 Series originally came with what is called the SSG Paddles. Many of you know these paddles by their silver button look and their strange operation. These SSG paddles shift up a gear by pulling the paddles on either side, and shift down a gear by pushing the paddles in/or away from you on either side.

This is I guess great for comfort and shifting with one hand. However with my inclination to sportier driving I prefer the more classic paddle functionality of downshifts on the left side paddle and upshifts on the right side paddle. I have retained the push to downshift function on my right paddle only, so that I may still have the comfort of the one hand shifting should I ever need it.

For those of you that would also like their own paddles to function this way, I have made this tutorial video showing how I did it on my own car. And the best part is it doesn't cost anything! Not additional parts needed. Rewire your silver paddles to function just like LCI paddles!
