WING CHUN DEFENSIVE SPARRING DRILL

Описание к видео WING CHUN DEFENSIVE SPARRING DRILL

In this video Neil Parris and his training partner do specific Wing Chun sparring. The specific aspect is that Neil Parris will be focusing on defence and counter attacking alone and will not initiate any attacks, although he will use destabilising actions to make it difficult for his training partner to attack him.

The purpose is to train your response to a given attack, develop better timing and ability to relate to movement while under pressure. An add on to this Wing Chun training drill could be to include more kicking, or to take the role of the aggressor. This allows the sparring to be progressive and focused so you can develop specific Wing Chun skills.

Throughout this defensive specific sparring Neill Parris will attempt to apply aspects of chi sau (sticking hands) in close range while under pressure. These chi sau concepts include sensitivity, destabilisation, and the redirection of energy when in close range.

During this pressure testing drill you will see times where certain attacks could have been applied by either person, but please remember that this is a defensive/ counter attacking training session and these opportunities are often being left deliberately. We will be building on this drill with more specific sparring concepts to show more ways to pressure test your Wing Chun Kung fu techniques.
