Decannulation (removal of the tube) for Children with Tracheostomies

Описание к видео Decannulation (removal of the tube) for Children with Tracheostomies

National Tracheostomy Safety Project.

In this short video, discover the steps leading up to the removal of tracheostomy on a child. For parents who are new to the process, it may seem daunting at first, but our health care team will be supporting you and your child through every step of your journey. Also, by watching this video, you can familiarise your self with the processes your child will undertake and what you can do to help them.

Our goal is to improve the safety and quality of care for patients with tracheostomies and laryngectomies through education. We’ve collaborated with key stakeholders in tracheostomy care and developed these freely accessible resources, supported by online learning developed with the Department of Health. We’ve worked with the Global Tracheostomy Collaborative since 2012 to improve care for patients and their families around the world.

This is one of a series of videos dedicated to training and education around paediatric tracheostomy care. The videos feature patients and their families and carers demonstrating and explaining their experiences with tracheostomies, explaining the typical processes around down-sizing and decannualtion (removal of the tube). All of the participants have given appropriate consent to feature in these videos.
