Emergency Tracheostomy Management in Hospital

Описание к видео Emergency Tracheostomy Management in Hospital

National Tracheostomy Safety Project.

This video clearly explains what to do if emergency tracheostomy management is needed in hospital. Tubes can get blocked or displaced and create stressful situations. These videos describe our published guidelines. (https://doi.org/10.1111/anae.14307). By following this video's step by step guidance, you will learn what to do if you are faced with a tracheostomy emergency in a child.

Our goal is to improve the safety and quality of care for patients with tracheostomies and laryngectomies through education. We’ve collaborated with key stakeholders in tracheostomy care and developed these freely accessible resources, supported by online learning developed with the Department of Health. We’ve worked with the Global Tracheostomy Collaborative since 2012 to improve care for patients and their families around the world.

This is one of a series of videos dedicated to training and education around paediatric tracheostomy care. The videos feature patients and their families and carers demonstrating and explaining their experiences with tracheostomies. All of the participants have given appropriate consent to feature in these videos.

The paediatric videos were filmed at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital in 2018 during routine anaesthetics, ward care and during home visits. As with all of our videos, the staff, parents and patients were fully informed about the filming and have given their consent for the videos to be used by the National Tracheostomy Safety Project. The adult videos were filmed in 2017 at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester. The children in our videos attended a special premiere in 2019 to thank them for their participation. You can find out more about how we made our films here: http://www.tracheostomy.org.uk/resour...
