PTSD is a complicated diagnosis and sometimes gets confused for ADHD/ADD. Attention-Deficit Disorder has many of the same characteristics as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which can confuse the person suffering with both.

It has been my experience that ADHD/ADD and PTSD can occur simultaneously (i.e., together at the same time), or one disorder can show up at a different time in your life. It may not show up until a stressful time in your life where attention-span, organization, and poor decision making is really needed. PTSD may not show up until you are triggered by something or begin remembering pieces of your trauma history.

It can be complex!


In this video, I highlight why ADD/ADHD and PTSD can sometimes create a diagnostic puzzle and maze of confusion.
