There are times in your life when it is inconceivable that, come Saturday night, you will dance until it feels like your feet are about to explode.

Flinging yourself around in ecstatic dance is a regular occurrence in your late teens and 20s. But as you move into your 30s, life can get in the way. Staying out till 5am becomes harder when hangovers become two- or three-day affairs, or if you have to spend the weekend looking after others (parents/pets/ kids).

Plus, most dance floors only get moving after 10pm, which means you have headed for the hills before it’s properly heaving. And that’s sad because dark, sweaty dance floors are heaven.

I’m sorry but you just can’t get the same rush of dopamine when you’re voguing around your living room, that you do when throwing shapes with total strangers. The desire to go out clubbing or dancing doesn’t wane, it just gets a bit trickier logistically.
