7 Signs You May Be Getting Kicked Out of Ketosis

It takes a great deal of concentration to remain in a state of ketosis. Nobody is perfect. In this video I will be sharing with you 7 signs that tip me off that I need to ease up on the carbs, or that I may be getting kicked out of ketosis. There are plenty of other signs, but these are some of the ones that stand out to me.

First - Head fog or foggy brain - You may feel a sense of having cloudy thoughts, lack of clarity, or slowness. When I'm in a deep state of ketosis I can feel the energy coursing through my brain and the moment I get kicked out I immediately feel it. It may feel like having your first alcoholic beverage in the sense your body will immediately slow down, starting with your brain.

Second - Heavy or labored breathing - If I have bread or other carb based foods after being on keto a while it's going to be difficult for me to breathe or catch my breath. I need to take more deep breathes and sometimes it feels like if I don't think about breathing I might forget. This may be a sign you need to ease up on whatever you're eating, there may be hidden (or obvious) carbs!

Third - Sluggish or tired - You may be feeling because your body is producing more insulin to help process and store the carbohydrates. Since your body won't be as familiar with this increased hormone level, you will probably notice it more and it will feel much harsher.

Fourth - Sniff or Runny nose - I notice when I have carbs it feels like I'm having a full blown allergy attack. My nose starts dribbling, gets stuffed up, and sinus pressure starts building.

Fifth - Headache - A caveat to this could be that you are low on electrolytes. But this can also be caused by some of the side effects of the other signs like sinus pressure, fatigue, and inflammation.

Sixth - Puffy face or Bloated - You may feel like you can't drop water weight or no matter how much you drink your thirst can't be quenched. You may also notice you don't have to go to the bathroom as much, and if this is the case I would continue to drink water. This probably means your body is trying to pack away water along with all the carbs. Remember your body needs 3-4g of water in order to process and store 1g of carbohydrate.

Seventh - Heartburn or Indigestion - If I eat carby foods I immediately get heartburn, indigestion, and acid reflux. I feel like I need a tums or Pepcid. This isn't the best solution and I try to avoid it. I have a history of acid reflux and this is why I try not to let it get to this point.
