ORIGINAL INFO: 15 Things that Linkara objects to over the DC miniseries “Identity Crisis.”

RUMINATIONS: Many thought that the 15th item on this list was a bit of a cop-out, very similar to my “15 Worst Things about Countdown” list, especially in light of how, in comics, MOST stories end up being irrelevant one way or another after a few years. However, this is especially true of Identity Crisis these days in the wake of the New 52 and its own POSSIBLE undoing at the time of this writing. It is a story that is MEANT to be timeless, both in its effects in the DC Universe, but also as a work of fiction. However, as our critical eye has spotted the tropes and attitudes behind this book we find more and more issues with it from different lenses… although mostly in its unnecessary, violent, and awful retcons concerning Sue Dibny and the secret between all the heroes attempting to drive them apart.

It’s ironic, in a way – Marvel and DC have always been separated by how they view their heroes – DC taking a more optimistic view of them while Marvel a more cynical approach. However, their cinematic universes are taking the opposite viewpoint – while there is some resistance to the Marvel heroes, ultimately they are being brought together as comrades and friends while the DC cinematic universe is trying to wedge its heroes farther and farther apart.
