Fortunago (PV), uno dei Borghi più Belli in Italia

Fortunago è un comune italiano di 367 abitanti della provincia di Pavia in Lombardia. Situato nell'Oltrepò, sulle colline che dividono le valli dei torrenti Coppa e Ardivestra, fa parte del circuito de i Borghi più Belli d'Italia.
La sua struttura risente delle antiche popolazioni celtiche, che hanno spianato la sommità per ricavarne le pietre necessarie a creare le mura del castellaro. In epoca medioevale entro la cinta muraria sono state realizzate la rocca, la casa signorile e la cappella del castello e solo dopo il 1400 sono comparse le abitazioni sul versante sud del promontorio, con muri in pietra arenaria e caratteristici archi a volta gotica.
L’area del castello conserva la casa dei feudatari, oggi sede del municipio recuperato negli anni ’70 alle attuali forme, il rudere della torre di difesa ed avvistamento, crollata agli inizi del secolo scorso, la chiesa parrocchiale che nel ‘600 è stata ricostruita nella attuale configurazione, unitamente alla bella torre campanaria.
Ubicata lungo la strada di arroccamento al castello, la Villa comunale (ex villa Nassano) è l’edificio più esterno rispetto alle mura del castello.
Dal 1599 l’oratorio, ubicato “extra portam fortunaghi in via pubblica”, è dedicato a San Rocco.
Villa Amelia è stata realizzata nel 1905 in pieno stile Liberty-floreale quale prima “casa di villeggiatura” costruita a Fortunago.
Il sentiero della Rocca cinge la sommità del Borgo ripercorrendo il tracciato delle antiche mura. Il percorso presenta un panorama sulla valle Coppa e sui vigneti del vicino Borgoratto Mormorolo.
La Casa con arco gotico, è situata sul lato sud del versante ed è datata nel XV sec., quando, sotto la signoria dei Dal Verme, Fortunago si espanse oltre le mura del castello. Questo edifico signorile, era destinato ad ospitare funzionari o dignitari al servizio del Feudatario.
E’ presente un punto vendita prodotti tipici, aperto il fine settimana. Le coltivazioni prevalenti sono il foraggio, i cereali ed il vino.
Di interesse è anche l’Auditorium comunale, capace di 600 posti a sedere e di una sala adeguata alla realizzazione di mostre d’arte.

Fortunago is an Italian municipality of 367 inhabitants in the province of Pavia in Lombardy. Located in the Oltrepò, on the hills that divide the valleys of the Coppa and Ardivestra streams, it is part of the circuit of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy.
Its structure is influenced by the ancient Celtic populations, who leveled the summit to obtain the stones needed to create the walls of the castellaro. In the Middle Ages, the fortress, the noble house and the castle chapel were built within the walls and only after 1400 did the houses appear on the southern side of the promontory, with sandstone walls and characteristic Gothic vaulted arches.
The castle area preserves the feudal lords' house, now the seat of the town hall, restored in the 1970s to its current form, the ruins of the defense and sighting tower, which collapsed at the beginning of the last century, the parish church which was rebuilt in its current configuration in the 17th century, together with the beautiful bell tower.
Located along the road leading to the castle, the Villa Comunale (formerly Villa Nassano) is the building furthest from the castle walls.
Since 1599, the oratory, located “extra portam fortunaghi in via pubblica”, has been dedicated to San Rocco.
Villa Amelia was built in 1905 in full Liberty-floral style as the first “holiday home” built in Fortunago.
The Rocca path surrounds the top of the village, following the route of the ancient walls. The route offers a view of the Coppa valley and the vineyards of the nearby Borgoratto Mormorolo.
The house with a Gothic arch is located on the south side of the slope and dates back to the 15th century, when, under the rule of the Dal Verme family, Fortunago expanded beyond the castle walls. This stately building was intended to house officials or dignitaries in the service of the feudal lord.
There is a point of sale for typical products, open on weekends. The main crops are fodder, cereals and wine.
Also of interest is the municipal Auditorium, capable of seating 600 and a room suitable for the realization of art exhibitions.
