A Palestinian girl in Gaza was filmed eating lemons with salt to cope with hunger as thousands of displaced Palestinians face starvation.

The UN has repeatedly warned that 40 percent of Gaza’s population is at risk of famine. Unrwa has recently stated that there is not enough food in Gaza and that the expansion of the Israeli army’s operations in the city of Rafah risks cutting the lifeline of assistance into Gaza, causing further suffering.

In December the UN reported that more than 7,000 children in Gaza suffered from the deadliest form of malnutrition that requires immediate medical intervention to avoid death.
