The Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla drew in huge crowds of supporters in Barcelona on Sunday, as around 20 vessels prepared to set sail. Among the crew was Greta Thunberg, veteran flotilla activist and vocal supporter for Palestine.

Though the flotilla's departure has now been delayed due to bad weather, it is expected to join other vessels from around the world in Tunisia before making the onward journey to Gaza.

Ranging from repurposed luxury yachts to the Sirius, a 100-year-old boat older than the state of Israel itself, each vessel carries much-needed food and medicine. ⁠

The fleet aims to reach Gaza by mid-September if unimpeded by Israel's forces. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has already called an emergency meeting in response to this monumental operation.
