Diamond Jewel Cichlids Fry

Описание к видео Diamond Jewel Cichlids Fry

1 week stage of newborn Diamond Cichlids.

0:23 Day 1 - Female will start laying eggs on flat rock or gravel (DID NOT GET THIS IN VIDEO). I counted about 270 eggs give or take some for my errors. The female will lay some eggs and the male will come after her and fertilize them and then they repeat. They do this in a weird circular motion.

0:28 Image - This is day 2 image. You will notice some white eggs on the rock. These eggs are NO GOOD. They were not fertilized and will not look translucent because they are not fertile.

0:31 Day 2 Not much happens on this day. You can see the eggs still look as they did in Day 1 and you can tell slightly which ones are translucent and which ones are white.

0:39 Day 3 Starts getting interesting. You can see pronounced black eyes and the tail starts moving while their in the eggs.

0:47 Day 4 The mother will take them in her mouth and move them to a place where they are protected. In a regular tank this would be your substrate rock or sand behind a rock or under some flat rocks. She will put them in her mouth and take them to the place she likes and spit them out.

1:07 Day 5 Eggs are still moving there tail at a pretty good rate. They are still just sitting there. Sometimes if the mother does not move them when these eggs move that much they will fall off the rock.

1:16 Day 6 Fish start looking more pronounced with their belly. They flop around little bit and start eating their egg sac,

1:30 Day 7 Fish eat the rest of their egg sac and become free swimmers. They generally stay next to the parents in a group. When some wonder off the parents will catch them in their mouth and spit them back with the rest of them when they are in danger.

In the next few weeks most of these babies die, but if your lucky you may get 5-10 survive the whole pack.
