Tarikh is a daily program in which we present you with incidents and stories of noteworthy persons of Indian History in Hindi. In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil talks about the end of the Khilji dynasty. Qutb-ud-din Mubarak Shah, the last ruler of the Khilji Dynasty in Delhi, a son of Alauddin Khalji, met a violent end in 1320. Despite inheriting the throne at a young age, his reign was marked by extravagance and a disregard for his advisors.

His ascent to power was itself bloody. He blinded his younger brother, Shihabuddin Omar, to secure the throne. However, his downfall came from within his own court. Khusrau Khan, a favourite slave general, grew disillusioned with Mubarak Shah's leadership.

In a daring nighttime raid, Khusrau Khan led his men into the royal palace, seizing control and slaying the guards. Mubarak Shah himself was dragged from his chambers, his power and life extinguished in a flash of violence.
