For the 1st time since 1973, Phil Danaher will not be on the sidelines coaching a Texas high school football game. After 48 seasons and 488 wins, most of which were at Calallen, Danaher retired. Before going into retirement, he gave his last media interview talking about his career and his memories.

The 488 wins are the most in Texas HSFB history. He is 66 ahead of Randy Allen as of the end of the 2021 season.
