12th January 2015 marks the opening day of the 2015 fishing season on the Thurso River.

At the opening ceremony, the opening speech and the toast to the river was made by Mr Alan Clasper. The first cast of the season was made by Mr Bob Sedgwick who travelled a considerable distance to get to Halkirk to take part.

Although cold and very windy there was a good turnout of the friends of 'The Thurso'.

As has become common place a number of individuals were invited to predict when the first fish will be caught and what the size of the largest fish caught during the season will be.
