梅特奥拉是位于希腊中部色萨利平原的西北边缘地带。梅黛奥拉Meteora，在希腊语中是“悬浮于空中”的意思. 在这一带，拔地而起的巨岩陡壁之上， 遍布东正教修道院。这里是极少数被联合国教科文组织认定为文化与自然双重遗产的古迹。
Meteora is located on the northwest edge of the Thessaly Plain in central Greece. Meteora means "suspended in the air" in Greek. In this area, Orthodox monasteries are dotted on the huge rock cliffs rising from the ground. This is one of the very few monuments recognized as a dual cultural and natural heritage by UNESCO.
