Reign: Lady Lola ll One Night

I'm probably one of the few vocal people in the fandom that feels this way, but: I love Lola. She's a fascinating character that doesn't get the love she deserves. She doesn't deserve all of the flack people give her for sleeping with Francis.
Francis is every bit as guilty as Lola. She's not the only one to blame, Francis had a major part in their sexcapades too. Lola's been doing her best to stay out of Mary's way, if you notice in the first episode of season two she looks upset when Francis declares the baby is his. This whole time she's had to carry this child alone, thinking of it as her child, and hers only, especially since Julien's out of the picture. Now Francis decides the child is his and suddenly he gets to decide everything for the child he only just realized he had. Look at Lola's scenes this season again, look how quietly devastated she is at first. She feels guilty, she feels horrible, but she's not the only person to blame. I think Lola isn't mad at Mary as much as she's mad at Francis for taking over her son's life. Lola knows that Mary has been very gracious to her and keeps waiting for the other shoe to fall, living in constant fear of being kicked out by both king and queen. Lola is in a very difficult situation and I think she's a stronger, more fascinating character than people give her credit for.
She almost wants Mary to get mad at her because then it’ll be over and done with, but by keeping her feelings hidden, Lola might fear that Mary will turn into another Catherine and she’ll become another Dianne, two women hating each other due to each other’s children and status with the king, except this time it would be even worse because Francis doesn’t love Lola, while Henry truly loved Dianne (even if this series didn’t go into that as much as it should have). If Mary continues to stay mad at Lola, this will break apart both women’s relationships with Francis, since he’d be caught between the two of them. Lola knows that Francis will, in the end, always choose Mary over her, so Lola has to work with her limited options and tread lightly around everyone because she would be the person that ends up alone if anything bad were to happen.
