Homeschooling stereotypes abound - homeschooled kids are unsociable, only intelligent and accomplished parents can homeschool, only wealthy families can afford to homeschool, the list goes on. Just like thousands of other kids in Taipei each year, 18-year-old Lu Ying-hsuan and her two brothers were homeschooled. However, despite limited resources, ordinary parents, and less-than-ideal living arrangements, Lu Ying-hsuan has grown into a well-rounded, gifted young woman who can write, draw, and sing. In this episode, we discover why Ying-hsuan's parents opted out of the education system; how homeschool families are no strangers to teenage rebellion; and what creative mediums the talented Ying-hsuan employs to convey heartfelt feelings.
