Why 100ppm? (ppm = parts per million)
Typically the goal of nitrogen for cannabis is 120ppm, so for simplicity how to calculate for 100ppm will be shown.
In addition 120ppm example will be shown
This will allow you can see multiple examples so you to be comfortable with the process and apply it to your own growing situation.



How To Read Fertilizer
Fertilizer will provide three numbers which are percentages
The order is important
N-P-K (Nitrogen-Phosphorus-Potassium)
Since this example will calculate Nitrogen you want to look at the first number.



Looking at This Example Water Soluble Fertilizer…
20% Nitrogen
10% Phosphorus
20% Potassium

How much fertilizer do you add to 1 Liter of water to get a 100ppm solution?



Calculation Steps For Question #1
Starting with 20% N with a goal of 100 ppm of N
Goal is 100ppm of N… How much fertilizer to add?



Question #1 Continued…
If the ratio calculated previously was to add 0.5g per 1 Liter
How many grams do I add for a 50 gallon tank?
Question #2
How much fertilizer do you add to 1 Liter of water to get a 120ppm solution?

Question #2 Continued…
If the ratio calculated previously was to add 0.6g per 1 Liter
How many grams do I add for a 1 gallon concentrate tank to be used in a proportion injector set at a 1:200 ratio and 200 gallons of irrigation will be used?
Since 200 gallons will be used, the grower should add 454g into the 1-gallon concentrate source and make sure everything dissolves and does not settle at this concentration
