Navajo Raiders vs Comanche Warriors : The Wichita Mountains Raid Of 1848

Описание к видео Navajo Raiders vs Comanche Warriors : The Wichita Mountains Raid Of 1848

Deep in Oklahoma’s Wichita Mountains, a young Comanche mother and her infant son are in mortal danger from a group of Navajo raiders who have been plotting an attack on their village for days.

The Comanche are a mighty people, who have laid claim to the most valuable real estate on the Great Plains for roughly a century and a half by now.By this point in the late 1840’s, they have subjugated or driven off virtually anyone who has opposed them, from the Tonkawa to the Spanish to, most recently, the Texans.

Their conflict with the Navajo is one of their oldest, longest-running feuds, and the Comanche warriors bristled at the thought that their territory was being encroached upon.

The warring between tribes, though often unrecorded, was often fraught with atrocities and horrific losses. The fight for resources and territory was as constant as the battle against the elements and starvation.

On this episode of History At The OK Corral, find out what happens to the young mother and her child at the hands of their dreaded enemies.
