SESSION SIT IN: POST-OP LABRUM REPAIR

Hey YouTube! Welcome back to the Recovery Lab for another episode of SESSION SIT IN! This time we tackle a Post Op Labrum Repair. Shoulder’s can be very tricky, but with the right combination of Manual Therapy and Corrective Exercise you can really get some fantastic outcomes with your clients and patients!

In this episode, Matt returns a little over 8 weeks post op for a posterior SLAP Labrum repair. Now, full disclosure, his rehab has gone extremely fast, and you should not expect everyone to be able to progress this fast. With Matt, we had done nearly 2 years of intensive shoulder Rehab/Prehab, trying to stabilize the shoulder conservatively. Unfortunately, he kept having instances of mild subluxations that would set him back in his training, so he finally decided that a surgical intervention was necessary to help mechanically stabilize the shoulder. It is no doubt that he exceptionally fast rehab is because of all the ground work done in the years prior to the operating table. So take this lesson…. ALWAYS TRY TO REHAB FIRST AND GO INTO SURGERY AS STRONG AND FUNCTIONAL AS POSSIBLE! It will pay dividends after surgery!

The program in the video is specific to Matt, and the presentation of his shoulder! In no way is this the standard template program for everyone with this injury/surgery. It is extremely important to EVALUATE, and IDENTIFY, movement issues and TREAT AND TRAIN as tolerated and according to the physicians orders!! Individualized programs like this are the best way to get great results!
